POLITICS IN GODARD'S CINEMA
Jingyi Li & Zhuoran Fang
In traditional movies, politics has always been a concealed and sensitive vocabulary. Directors often choose to avoid all politics. In the turbulent era of 1960, in the cultural atmosphere of the French New Wave, people once thought that the film was nothing more than a vehicle for innovating traditional stories. However, Godard's films have brought people a completely new perspective to see the changes in the world and to view the war. For Godard, the film is politics. He uses a paranoid and fierce way to let you discover the unusualities of the film.
Our exhibition is based on two of Godard's films, which are "Pierrot le fou" (1965) and "La Chinoise" (1967). They reflect the political background of a particular era and are also to Godard's own. The interpretation of political views. The exhibition will be divided into two major sections, one is an installation art exhibition and the other is a special moving image. Curator will create an immersive atmosphere and bring the audience back to the glamorous era of French New Wave.
When Godard moved the subject of the film to politics, he was like a soldier who had picked up a weapon. He swept the world with aggressive lines, disappeared in light and shadow, and was born again in politics.
